Our Home & Pets

About our Pets:
Tim and I both feel that a house isn’t a home without pets.

Our cats

Scooby, our grey tabby, and Heidi, our tuxedo cat, really do make our house a home filled with unconditional, unselfish love.  We adopted them from the SPCA in 2001 and they’ve been filling our lives with a lot of laughter and a lot of love ever since.  Both are very affectionate cats, Scooby is far more outgoing and will run to the front door to greet whomever comes to visit. He actually acts more like a little dog because he’ll follow you from room to room and always has to be near.  Heidi is a little more shy and will zoom upstairs to hide when she hears the doorbell ring but as soon as you walk into a room or say her name she starts purring loudly!

The cats are so good with our son, we teaching him to gently pet them.  He loves to feel their soft fur  and he giggles when then chase after the toy mice he’ll roll toward them and they will purr and purr!  The cats are sweet with all our friends’ kids too, in fact we have a couple of friends whose children refer to our home as “Scooby and Heidi’s house” because our cats make such an impression!  We certainly do adore our cats!

About our Home:

We are really lucky to live in a great little neighborhood that’s quiet, right next to a nature reserve and by a beautiful river,  but still only 1/2 hour away from all that Washington DC offers: all the museums, including the natural history museum, the national zoo, and all those monuments to explore!

Our community is a nice little oasis next to the River, we can take lovely strolls or bike rides

along the river path and head down to the Marina to see all the boats, we can enjoy the nature reserve which is full of eagles, ospreys and great blue herons,  or enjoy the community pool, the tennis courts and a little playground with swings and climbing for the kids.  Our son loves these walks and we point out the birds flying overhead or ducks on the water. There’s so much to see and share with a little one.

Our home backs into a cul-de-sac that is very popular with the young kids and neighbourhood moms as a safe place to play and we can look out from our back windows to keep an eye on the little one!  So there are lots of options for playing outdoors and along with our son, there are lots of neighborhood kids of all ages with whom to play.  Inside we have a nice open floor-plan that would let us keep an eye on the little ones playing inside in the family room or library with a big comfortable chair that’s perfect for curling up with a little one on your lap and reading from Melissa’s collection of children’s storybooks or there’s the fully finished basement that’s ready for playtime anytime!

We’ve lovingly decorated the nursery (Check out the blogs about how we got the room ready and some of the little touches and elements that we had fun with – creating this sweet little serene spot for

Loving couple wants to adopt - welcome to the nurseryOur home is already full of love, but but we have more to give. We can’t wait for our son to have a little sister or little brother.  Both Tim and i grew up with siblings and know what a special relationship it is to have a brother or sister:  Someone he can look out for, play with, teach, and with whom he can share the happiest of childhoods.  We promise to you is that we will do everything possible to ensure our children grow up to be happy, confident, educated, well traveled, loving, considerate and kind people.
